At the local level, the Order operates in Charter Councils and these are organised into Provinces, either at Diocesan level or within an area determined by the Board of Directors.  Each Province has a Provincial Council which generally meets on a quarterly basis.  The officers of the Provincial Council are elected annually.

Representatives from each Province, together with the Board of Directors form the Supreme Council which is the governing body of the Order.

Many Provinces regularly provide support to their Charter Councils in recruitment, participating and stewarding of pilgrimages, organising retreats and managing special funds, particularly to support vocations or the training of clergy.
