The Knights of St Columba is the largest Catholic family fraternal service organization in the UK with eight thousand members. As a 'doing' organisation it provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families and young people. Knights usually feel they are responding to a 'calling' and enjoy common union whether it be in groups or privately, at Mass, on a Retreat or other occasion.

The work of the knights is carried out at both a local and national level. Following the KSC's successful national 'Partners for Health' campaign, which raised £140.000, the current National Action Project will support the 'Samaritains' movement over the next three years (to Oct 2008)

Locally, the Knights of St Columba undertake various activities to provide support and assistance to the Community at large, families, the young and the Church. Knights give freely of their time and energy to enhance the spiritual well-being of the local community; distributing posters; erecting Christmas cribs in prominent places; organising seminars on social teaching; vocation exhibitions and  adopting a moral stance on life issues.
