Our council hosts a large number of council activities throughout the year. KSC logoThe highlight of the month is the full Council meeting which takes place at the church of SS Francis and Therese on the third Monday. A varied agenda is presented for in addition to the business part of the meeting proceedings are interlaced with the Chaplain’s homily, praying a decade of the rosary, prayers and readings.

After the formal part of the meeting there are refreshments followed by a wide ranging discussion on some catholic topic. A varied programme of events is being planned for the following twelve months. Emphasis is being given to social activities and in course of preparation are theme suppers, a barbeque, visits to locations of catholic interest (e.g. stately home), golf tournament and a challenge match with a neighbouring Council at darts/skittles.

339 Update - August 2001

Mexican Wave

I understand from reports, that the Mexican Night, held at Billing Institute on Saturday 21st July was a great success. As predicted in the last copy of 339 Update, everybody had great fun, and Brother Eddie has started his new reign as Social Secretary with a big hit. Our thanks to Bro. Eddie, and all his family, for all their hard work. I understand from Bro, Con that our funds have also benefited from this event.

339 Update

At the last Meeting, Bro Con asked if he could have help with the production of the Newsletter after about three and a half years. Bros. David Gregg and Ray Clifford offered their services. If any other Brothers feel that they would like to take a turn as well, please let the GK know, and a rota will be set up.

If any Brothers would like to air their feelings/thoughts on any subject which is relevant to our Order, or would just like to satisfy a long felt literary urge, please let the GK have your work before the end of the month, for inclusion in the next issue.

HELP!!!

John Cox needs HELP to parcel up the Vine before the delivery teams take over. This is about 2 hours easy work on the Wednesday prior to the first Sunday of the month If you can spare the time it would be much appreciated.

Provincial Dinner

A reminder - The Province is organising a Provincial Dinner to be held on Friday 28th September at the Bedford Moat House (time 7-30 p.m. for 8-00 p.m.). The Supreme Knight, Brother Tony Britten, has accepted an invitation to attend. There are some from this Council who are intending to be at the Dinner. If you would like to join them at this event, please let our GK, know before 7th September. The cost is £16-50 per person.

The Vine

The deadline date for delivering the next publication of the Vine is Thursday 30th August, when it will be the turn of Brothers Ray Clifford and Felix Scrivener.

October is the month of the Holy Rosary - “A decade a day keeps the Devil away”
